January Office Goddess Book Club

The office goddess book club has announced
the January selection-

my choice for the January 2009 book is the first in a series of seven books by Mary Janice Davidson. The first book is "Undead and Unwed". These are about a group of vampires (big surprise!) and are laugh out loud funny. The main character is Betsy who becomes the Vampire Queen but doesn't really do a good job of being a queen. I hope everyone enjoys it!

Thanks, Becky

Office Goddess book club

The office goddess book club has announced the December selection:

This is a great holiday book. Christopher Moore has a great sense of humor and adds his own twist to a holiday miracle.

The book is about the wonderfully quirky, and downright insane people of Pine Cove, Calif.
One resident, little Joshua Barker is sure that he saw Santa take a shovel to the head, and now the seven-year-old prays for Santa to come back from the dead.

A visitor, an angel waiting in the wings, comes to Earth to grant a small child a holiday wish but he's botches his sacred mission and sends the residents of Pine Cove headlong into Christmas chaos.

Office Goddess Book Club

the office goddess book club has announced
the november book of the month

Any book by Elizabeth Peters
picked by karlene

I'm picking any book by Elizabeth Peters. She writes a series about a woman who meets & marries an archeologist in the late 1880s. She solves unusual mysteries. It sounds a little corny, but the books are entertaining and Amelia Peabody (the main character) is hilarious. Book 1 is Crocodile on the Sandbank.

If that doesn't appeal to you, this same author also writes gothic and supernatural thrillers under the name Barbara Michaels. They're a little creepy but not extreme horror.

Here's a link to a complete list of her books, as both Elizabeth Peters and Barabara Michaels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Peters

Most libraries carry her books because she's very popular.

Favorite song of the week

the favorite song of the week was picked
by Karlene. Thanks for deciding for me,
and putting me out of my misery,
i was having a hard time....

Old time rock and roll
by Bob Seger

ooh- to be 16 again.....
i look at my sons that will be 16
in less than two weeks...
and they don't listen to any of
my "good" advice....but then i
didn't either back then...and i think
i would love to go back and redo
parts of my life.... but then would i
be the same person i am now if i
redid anything????
i guess my temporary "youngness" from
music will have to do

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

indecision is running rampant....

ok- i just cannot decide on which of the
bob seger songs i want to post as my favorite
song of the week..... i was trying to decide from
his greatest hits cd #1 and #2. then i found out
from my sister that he released a new one in
2006...which i had to go get and it is making my
decision even harder... so the first person who
comments and tells me their favorite song by
bob seger... will get the pleasure of picking the
song of the week :)

how's that for passing the buck!

Monday, March 10, 2008

Favorite Song of the Week

the favorite song of the week
will be a song yet to be determined
but it will be by

Bob Seger

i am currently listening to his greatest
hits vol one & two trying to decide on a
song.... all i know is i love the temporary
"youngness" i feel when i listen to him.
it transports me back in time.....

44% of junk mail is thrown away but
people still spend 8 months of their
lives opening junk mail…
it takes 100 million trees to produce the
annual supply of junk mail.

here's some ideas on how to reduce
junk mail:

1. anytime you enter a contest, make a donation,
join a buyers club, order anything by mail, etc..
write next to your name when possible
Please do not rent of sell my name.
2. call the number of the people sending you
junk mail and ask to be removed from their
list.
3. remove name from several national mailing list
through the Direct Marketing Association
Preference Service- on line of by mail.

the average person receives 500 pieces of junk
mail per year.

i had a thought and naturally it wasn't my
original thought but here it is.......

Create a happy day :)

this was below the signature line on an email
a friend sent me and i almost missed it....

i thought about it and i believe most days we
can choose to create a happy day and therefore
we can have a happy day. But, some days i don't
care how much you try it isn't going to turn out
to be a happy day no matter how hard you try.
But then again.... maybe i just am unable to control
the outside influences in my life as well as others
can.

But for today I choose to create a happy day :)

-so bad you think you are going to die
and when you realized your not going to die
you wish you were anyway
immobile-when it hits it hits hard and you are unable
to move for 24 hours
runny nose/stuffy nose- all at the some if that is possible
headache
dizziness
sneezing
cough
-oh yes that awfully dry cough that after 24 hours
your ribs and stomach hurt from all the coughing
and sneezing

i think that pretty well sums up last week for me....
Thomas was first, it originated with him and then
i was the lucky second one followed closely by
Ryane and then it started to weaken and Mike
got a very mild version of it.... one family member
was lucky enough to escape the effects of this flu
i won't mention his name- i don't want to jinx him

all i can say is if you get it--go to bed for a week
and keep yourself in a cold medicine coma until it is over.

Make today matter...

every monday matters..... week 4

prepare for an emergency
have a family communication plan
someone everyone calls that is outside
your local calling area in case of an emergency
cell phones may not be working so a prepaid
phone card or coins may be necessary
designate a primary and secondary meeting place

have a 72 hour kit that you update every
6 months*

readiness reduces fear and anxiety

*those of you who have 72 hour kits
please share with us what you have in yours
i have started ours and could use some tips*

prepare today......for any kind of tomorrow!

i started this blog as a way to vent...
you know, therapy for me... it was all
about me....and it has been fun for me
and hopefully for ya'll too.

i owe the cuteness of my blog to my sister
Karlene... i make a post to my blog and she
goes in and adds cute pictures and then links
to things. one day she is going to show me how.
thanks karlene

so, i think i am suppose to do a post of 100
things about me so here we go.....
not really, just kidding

thanks everyone for reading and commenting
have a great day :) suan

Make today matter...

every monday matters--week 2

this week they talk about how much people
watch tv and how we would be more productive
if we watched less tv....
here are their suggestions...

1. turn off the tv today
2. designate tv free times during the week and
reduce the number of hours spent watching tv
3. remove tv's from bedrooms and kitchens
4. make a list of things to do besides watch tv
5. avoid using tv as a reward
6. be more selective about what you watch on tv

i personally don't watch alot of tv
but my kids watch way too much tv
and if i had to do it over i never would have
let them have tv's in their rooms
but if i tried to remove their tv's now i would
have a mutiny on my hands...
but i like the idea of turning off the tv for one
whole day... i think i will try it .... wish me luck :)

monday matters-week 1

Every monday matters
by matthew emerzian and kelly bozza

monday matters- week one

stop and think and make a list
of what matters most to you

now make a list of how you spend
your time each week

third, orgainze your weekly list of
activities into two categories
required and optional

rearrange your list and reduce your
optional acrivities so you have more
time to do what matters most

sounds easy....i'm off to make my list
have a great week :)

Have you made today matter?

have you made today matter?

join with me in making every monday matter
by following ideas from the book:

Megan- when did you grow up?

i went to my nieces blog today and read her post

"Thanks"

here are my thoughts :

1. i need to do a post like that
my thoughts but put so eloquently...
by megan ( i think she get's it from her mom)

2. why not just copy hers--maybe she won't
mind...maybe she won't even know.

3. what a cool picture.

4. when did megan grow up to be such a wonderful
young woman?

megan- hope you don't mind the link to your blog

sniff....sniff...sniff.....

due to my extreme attire yesterday
i have a cold.....
so, you think that serves me right?
I'm really not sick i was jk
i am sitting here in flip flops again
and my crazy world full of oddness
continues :)

time to vote....

ok- it is time to vote...

am i the #1 oddest odd ball in the world?

it is snowing like a blizzard outside
the thermometer says it is 22 degrees
and i am sitting in my toasty office
wearing flip flops and smiling :)

ooh-pick me! pick me!

My heart is smiling :)

let me first start by saying i am easily amused,
i am easily entertained, and i am odd. i always tell
my kids "i am odd and proud of it" then i go into my
speech that if we were all the same what a boring life
it would be.......and i am sure in their heads after the "i am
odd and proud of it" all they hear is blah blah blah....

anyway... on my way to work (every day since 1-1-08)
i crank my "theme song" of the year as loud as i can stand
it and sing along. since there are no kids in the car to tell
me i dance better than i sing. btw, what a polite way to say
you are a lousy singer... i have such (occasionally) polite
kids. but today i added in a little xtra fun... i am tapping my
my feet with my freshly painted toe nails.... oh yeah, did i
mention i am tapping my flip flop wearing feet?
those of you who know me once i mention the flip flops
can imagine just how happy i am..... now i realize this is
january and it is cold out....not to worry... i brought my furry
clogs to work .... just in case some of that white
stuffs starts falling from the sky....

NO SOCKS--FLIP FLOPS--FRESHLY PAINTED TOES

today in "my world" as crazy as it my be
life is good.....

fav song of the week

since i seem to be forever behind on my song of the week (good thing i don't try to do a song a day) i had a hard time choosing so here is another one for you....

wind beneath my wings
by bette midler

i dedicate this song to my kids they are truly the wind beneath my wings they lift me up and keep me going when i just want to crash to the ground and give up... they are my heroes... being teenagers in the here and now is not an easy task with all the peer pressure and drugs so easily available... but they are making the right decisions and i am proud of their choices. i love you all three !

Today is just another ordinary miracle

today is just another ordinary miracle

if you think about it for very long there are a lot of ordinary miracles that happen all around us on a daily basis....
and if i were to pause for a second in my busy life i would recognize more of them. but one miracle that happened today was....as simple as it may sound my first miracle today was... i woke up! that in its self i believe is a miracle....

another miracle i saw this morning came in the form of the beautiful face of my daughter smiling at me. which believe me the smiling part does not happen very often on a school day at 5:30am she most definitely is NOT a morning person.

so, i took that wonderful miracle of her smile and stored the image in my heart to retrieve
on a day when it is not a smile i happen to see but a frown.

ryane- thank you for your beautiful smile today :) i love you

this brings me to my fav song of the week

New Years Resolutions

new years resolutions seem to be a set up for failure
and i don't need the guilt so i've decided to try something
a little different......

i found this neat idea at
inksplasher.blogspot.com

what you think...
