Favorite song of the week

i have been a little busy with the holidays
which were wonderful this year. we got a chance
to hang out with family and friends and enjoy ourselves
and relax a little...

i will be missing in action for awhile because of work.
i am extemely busy this time of year until about february 1st
with all the year end things that need to be done....
and in february i should be all caught up and NO MORE
SATURDAY HOURS...for those of you who know how many
hours i work a week this will be amazing for me...
what will i do with all my free time??

1st- hang out more with my kids and husband
2nd- make more trips to vegas (or more movie marathons here!)
3rd- spend more time with friends scrapbooking :)
4th- relax and read...
and the list could go on forever....
but enough about my wonderful life...

my favorite song of the week is

Brand new year
by She Daisy
(It's not on YouTube, but you can listen to a short clip here.)

"this is my one resolution and i make it with out fear
to live, to love TODAY
cause it's a brand new year...
resilently reclaiming ME."

enjoy :)
give it a listen
when you get a minute

and i wish you all a wonderful new year
and hope you can find time if even for an
hour here and there to reclaim YOU !

pause and ponder, here is what it said.......

Favorite song of the week

"all i can say is that my life is pretty plain"
and sometimes plain and uneventfull is good!

the song is....

i had a thought.....

people will forget what you said
people will forget what you did.
but people will never forget how
you made the feel.

(this was copied from an email
from skippy)

The most under-rated holiday

thanksgiving is the most under-rated holiday
we think of cooking, eating, cleaning...
and sometimes we forget about the things
we are thankful for...
i am thankful for many things...

my family- who support and love me
my kids- who make all the struggles worth it
friends- who are always there for me
health- that keeps my body moving
job- that allows me to support my family
freedom- i have because others are willing to risk
their lives

i am sure i have forgotten several things
and will be back to update this post...

here is a song that reminds me....
what we've survived
what we've accomplished

In the last 10 years
by Kenny Rogers

Friday, November 9, 2007

i had a thought....

i get a boat load full of mail order magazines
this time of year... i like to do alot of
christmas shopping on line... this was on a
tshirt in one of those magazines...

i use to care
but now i take a pill for that

i approve !!!!

Henry Cavill is the actor that Stepanie Meyers would pick to play Edward in twilight only now he is too old (she says) and movie rights to twilight are still in negotiation.

i totally approve !

"daylight savings time ends"

this is what it says on my calendar
it doesn't mention the havoc it plays with
my internal clock.... i wake up earlier than
i need to and i want to go to bed earlier...
when my kids were little it use to really mess
up their schedules... they were cranky for a
couple of weeks until they're little bodies adjusted.
these days the only schedule it seems to mess up
is the old lady in the house (me) and my sister.

Edward (Twilight)

i believe most of you are aware that the twilight series
of books are my absolute favorite books of all time...
my sister who is an urban botanic consultant came
up with some scents for the characters of the book.

She made scents for....

Bella by Daylight
Bella by Moonlight

i liked them all but my two favorite are Edward
and Bella by Daylight
and when i smelled them i really did think of the
character.... i don't know how she does that....
she has come up with some amazing scents.
i will hopefully have the scents made by the end of
the week if you'd like to come by and smell them
give me a call :)

[P.S. You can read more about these fragrances at her Signature Scents blog. She will be posting a description of one a day over the next week. You can also order them online here.]

my toes are doing a happy dance...

i did a mini pedicure and painted my toe nails and best of all i have on flip flops today :)
and it's suppose to be nice weather all week which means sandals all week! how wonderful is that for the second week of november.

life is good :)

Too soon ???

i set my alarm clock on a corny radio station because it helps
me get out of bed quicker... the day after halloween i wake up
to... no other than frosty the snow man.... i had forgotten that
they start playing christmas on november 1st.... i have changed
the channel.... i generally don't start listening to christmas music
until the day after thanksgiving.... you know i like to follow the
rules... and the "socially acceptable" timing of the holidays....

ok- i am a big christmas fan.... in fact i am a fan of
all holidays... i like to celebrate them all... my favorite
is halloween followed closely by christmas....
however, i think there is a "socially acceptable"
time table for christmas.... in order to enjoy each holiday
you can't bring the next one on too soon....
for example..

october- you get to enjoy halloween for the entire month
you get to decorate, carve pumpkins, plan costumes,
go to haunted houses, corn mazes, parties, etc..

november- you get to enjoy fall, the look of the leaves, the
crispness in the air....then the big day you get to
cook all day for the dinner that takes a table of
men 15 minutes to devour...then the rest of the day
you spend cleaning dishes... not my favorite holiday
but after all the work is done you relax and pull out
the christmas ads and make your plans for the
day of shopping and where you will be standing in
line at 4:30am, which is a fair payoff for the day of
cooking and cleaning the day before....

december- after the day of shopping you can ring in the beginning of
christmas any day of your choosing.... remember if your going
to go thru all the trouble of decorating you should be able to
enjoy it for a month.... the lighting of the out door christmas lights
should begin no sooner than dec 1st and continue no later than
jan lst.....this turning on christmas lights until the middle of jan
are against the "holiday rules"

However, i am not the boss of the holidays.... so do whatever you want and enjoy :)

Ever been misunderstood, misused, or misled Ever knocked on the sky and had it fall on your headwell, don't worry 'bout it, don't worry Ever lost your luggage, your marbles, your house Or found yourself in bed with Uncle Sam or Mickey Mouse Ever been accused of murder on Music Row Or caught in morning traffic when you really gotta go - Oh no! [Chorus]Life is funny, life's a mess Sometimes a curse, sometimes a blessing Don't worry 'bout a thing, don't worry 'bout it Life gets sticky, life can bruise Sometimes you win sometimes your losing No matter what it brings Don't worry 'bout a thing Ever sat yourself down when the seat is all wet Or see your "ex" sucking face with a little brunette Don't worry 'bout it, no don't worry Ever lost your religion, ever lost your best friend Or found your last record in the bargain bin Or been stuck in a divorce like crazy glue Or scraped someone else's gum off the bottom of your shoe - Boo hoo![Repeat Chorus](Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah - Blah, Blah,Blah, Blah, Blah, - Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah)Don't worry, don't worry[Bridge:]We all got a little junk in the trunk And when you're feelin' good as sunk Remember, everything will be just fine If I laugh at yours then you'll laugh at mine[Repeat Chorus 2x](Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah - Blah, Blah,Blah, Blah, Blah, - Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah)Don't worry, don't worry Life gets sticky, life can bruise Sometimes you win sometimes your losing No matter what it brings Don't worry 'bout a thing[

it came from a song by P!nk-Who knew

"count your blessings now before they're long gone"

in fact i'm going to post this song as my favorite
song of the week...

i had a thought...

yep..... i had another thought, was is mine? who are you
kidding.... this actually came off the wrapper of a piece of dove
milk chocolate candy...i know, why am i eating chocolate if i am
trying to lose weight.... well there is about three days of the
month where i loose control if you know what i mean... it is
that time of the month... anyway... the wrapper said....

"hey, why not?"

"temptation is up is even better"

"decorate your life"

Favorite Song of the Week

My favorite song of the week is no other than....

Viva Las Vegas
by Elvis Presley

when you get a minute
give it a listen
enjoy :) suan

i had a great time in vegas i only wish i could have
stayed longer..... remember.... what happens in vegas
stays in vegas... thanks becky for a great weekend.
i miss you already :)

The dreaded SOCKS !

i hate socks.... i hate what they represent.
the end of summer and the beginning of winter.
i hate my toes being confined by a pair of socks.
as i left for work this morning i realized it is starting
to get chilly in the morning and at night and i wonder
how many more days of "sandal" wearing do i have
left before i am forced to pull out the dreaded socks...
i am probably the first one to put sandals on in the
spring and the last to stop wearing them in the fall.
i hate socks.....i hate socks....i hate socks.....

What's your real age?

this is another one of those test that will tell you
your REAL age... i like this one i am 45 and it says
i am 43....i'll take it.... it's better than 59 like the
other test i took....

Vegas here i come in one day :)

i am very fortunate that i have a family
that is supportive and can do with out me for 3 days.....
i think they realize how many hours i work and that
i deserve and need a little down time with my bff Becky, who took
off and moved to vegas a little over a year ago or has it been
two years now?? all i know is it seems more like 20 years...

if my family only knew how tempted i am to go and stay
they would never let me go..... but then i guess they know me
better than i know myself and that i will come back...i could never
live without them :)
they are my life and my reason for living

thanks family-- i love you :)

Favorite song of the week

the favorite song of the week is an oldie but goodie
it makes me immediately feel like i'm 16 again :)

Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
(This is the 1977 version when Stevie Nicks could still hit those wonderful high notes.)

give it a listen when you get a minute
enjoy :) suan

i had a thought...

i had a thought.... it wasn't originally mine..

it was a statement on my sisters blog
she was talking about goals...

i believe in the "power of a little bit"
something is better than nothing.

i believe in the power of a little bit too
sometimes it is hard to set or reach a goal
but if you work at it a little bit at a time
eventually you're there.... and reaching a goal
can be so sweet.

What's your Brain Age ??

So, a dear friend of mine (i think) got me the nintendo ds brain age game for my birthday. You take a series of test and then it tells you your brain age.... so for my forty something ( i quit counting ) birthday i took my brain age test and it was about some birthday depression (thanks becky).

But seriously, your only as old as you feel, right? which is even more depressing because lately i feel about 75. But the good news is i have been doing the daily training on the game and today when i retook the test i am only 51. i guess that is good since it is an improvement.

wish there was something out there that could make me look and feel 18 years younger in aprox 3 weeks..

hey-becky send me that for my next birthday :)

have a great day :) suan

p.s. thanks becky- the game really is fun!

summer reading thing

here's my review--first i rate it a 12+++++++ they are my favorite books EVER! i love twilight and new moon and i am half way through with eclipse and loving it too. i don't know how i will be able to wait a year for the next one...hopefully just a year...the whole love story with the adventure and suspense and the handsome sexy vampire...what more could you ask for? at times i felt i am a 40 something year old thinking this 17 year old vampire is so hot but lets face it...he is... and he's really not 17...he's been 17 for how many years?? and karlene just so you know, you are the only one in the world that likes jacob better than edward. i really want bella to become a vampire-- i thought it was going to happen in new moon when james attacked her...but i want edward to do it.. hopefully in eclipse. i liked her birthday party when she got the paper cut and then everything escalated...and in eclipse when edward thought bella was dead and she went to stop him....i hope i got all the books right it's hard to remember what was in which book since i have read all three books in a row..i like the idea that the author has planned to go back and write twilight again as edward..
here's a website you might be interested in

Favorite song of the week

i heard this song on the radio yesterday... i really liked it and of course the radio station did NOT say who it was... so i had to go online and google part of the song and amazingly it came up quickly.....

the artist is Emerson Hart. he has a very nice voice and something about my mood at that particular moment made me really like the song.... If you're leaving

so- let me know if you are familiar with Emerson Hart. i wonder if his cd is worth buying

when you get a minute give it a listen.

enjoy :) suan

We interrupt this blog for a Happy Birthday message from Suan's sister. She trustingly gave me access to her blog to make some decorative tweaks to her code. I am taking full advantage of that to wish her a happy birthday.

So, Happy Birthday Suan! I hope it's a good one.

Favorite song of the week

my favorite song of the week... i know your holding your breath waiting for this.....

i was watching this random show on tv (yes i was watching tv--believe it or not) a 1980 music countdown....

anyway, i know your waiting for this so i won't delay...

so- i was never a cyndi lauper fan but they played this song by her- time after time and i had to go to itunes and buy it and then about 5 days later they play a new verson by some guy, which isn't bad but i think i like cyndi lauper's version better.

give it a listen when you have time.

enjoy :)

Where did the summer (and my life) go ???

Can you believe it is almost august? Where did the summer go?

more importantly where did my life go?

My mom always said "the older you get the faster the time goes" but this is ridiculous.
Just the other day i had my last babies--twin boys. now they are starting high school in four weeks.....where did the past 15 years go?? Not to mention my daughter turned 19 last month.....

wow.... life is just speeding by me too fast... i want to stop and enjoy it and i do sometimes... but not as much as i'd like and before you know it the kids will be grown and gone. Seems i spent the first 8 years of their life wishing they'd hurry and grow up--raising kids was just too hard.... then at about nine, I started thinking slow down this is going too fast and i don't want you to grow up that fast...

but evidently i have no control over time and how fast it goes. My advice to anyone who may want it.... enjoy your kids while they are young, they grow up soooo fast and the old saying
as corny as it is.. "stop and smell the flowers" pretty much says it all.

have a great day :) suan

water aerobics

those of you who know me may or may not be aware that even though my kids love water i do not. i love the sun but not the water.

anyway, i enrolled ryane in a water aerobic class with the intent that i would sit on the bench and read while she did the class. i walk on the treadmill in the mornings so i get my exercise on dry land. but everyone seemed to be having a great time. it made me want to join in. so, i went looking for a swimsuit.

i haven't owned a swimsuit in aprox 20 years. what an eye opening experience. so, i closed my eyes and just made sure the necessary parts were covered. there is no swimsuit out there that would actually look good on me right now, but hopefully in the future...

water aerobics is actually fun and you get a great work out. i just need to figure out how to prevent the foot cramps.

(No, that's not me.)
